Molybdenum Trioxide (MoO3) Sputtering Targets

Molybdenum Trioxide (MoO3)

Molybdenum Trioxide, or MoO3, forms rarely on earth as the mineral molybdite. The importance of this compound lies in its industrial uses as a catalyst; thus, this compound of Molybdenum sees the most uses out of any others. MoO3’s layered structure and the ease of which Mo(VI)/Mo(V) are coupled lend application to electrochemical devices and displays. Molybdenum trioxide has also been suggested as a potential anti-microbial agent, e.g., in polymers. When in contact with water, MoO3 forms H+ ions that can kill bacteria effectively.
