This Sulfide of Tungsten typically appears as a dark solid or powder. Recently thin films of W2S have been shown to oxidize into WO3, with ambient light in the magnitude of < ~660 nm/ > ~1.88 eVwas seen as the catalyst for the reaction. WS2 is susceptible to attacks by solutions of nitric & hydrofluoric acid, and when heated decomposes into Tungsten and Sulfur, rather than melting. These interesting properties make this a perfect candidate for more study.
