SCI utilizes CNC machining, EDM, and dedicated grinding equipment to produce targets with strict adherence to dimensional tolerances and specifications. You will find our surface finishes and dimensional tolerances to be some of the best in the industry.
Fabrication Footprint
Roughly shaped metals and ceramics need to be worked into specifications provided by, you, the customer. Grinders shave away material until thickness requirements are met. Electrical Discharge Machines (EDMs) use electrical discharge to cut highly-accurate shapes into backing plates and metal targets. Since sputtering target assemblies aren’t standard and vary from manufacturer, these machines help us quickly conform to any OEM design. Our CNC machines work to lathe backing tubes for Rotatable/Rotary target assemblies used in roll-to-roll applications.
We also offer laser engraving services for targets, backing plates, and target assemblies. Directly marking components can eliminate the confusion associated with identical-looking pieces and parts. Since some materials, especially metals look similar, consider requesting this service especially if there is little visual difference in requested materials.
