Chrome or Chromium is an incredibly important transition metal that sees heavy use in optics due to its high reflectivity.  This metal is extremely hard, only beat by carbon diamonds and boron. Chromium has high corrosion resistance, and, when polished, reflects almost 70% of visible light, and almost 90% of infrared light.
