Ruthenium is a precious metal whose applications include electronic contacts, and chip resistors, and is even used as anodes for chlorine production in electrochemical cells. As an additive, Ruthenium is a hardener for platinum & palladium, and the optical qualities it possesses allow it to be sued as a capping layer for extreme ultraviolet photomasks.
