Niobium Stannide (Nb3Sn)

This incredibly brittle material is an A3B structured superconductor. Uses typically include a wire for creating superconducting magnets that are used in MRI machines, particle accelerators, mass spectrometers, and fusion reactors. Nb3Sn wire is being used in building the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) which plans to achieve their first fusion induced plasma in 2025, and begin deuterium-tritium operation in 2035.
