Cerium Dioxide (CeO2), also known as ceria, or Cerium (IV) Oxide has a number of different qualities that suit it for use in photocatalysis, fuel cells, optics, as well as mixed conduction. As a mixed conductor Cerium Dioxide releases its oxygen at high temperatures, but still maintains its cubic, Flourite lattice crystal structure which makes CeO2 an important material for defect chemistry.
