This compound of Lithium, Niobium, and oxygen is known as Lithium Niobate is a colorless solid with a ferroelectric, trigonal crystal system, and a bandgap of 4 eV. It is an integral material in the development of surface acoustic wave devices which are used in mobile phones to translate sound to data, or vice versa. Lithium Niobate sees use in the acousto-optical devices, optical switches, and anti-aliasing filters.
