Titanium Boride (TiB2) Sputtering Targets

Titanium Boride (TiB2)

Titanium Boride (TiB2) is a low density (4.52g/cm3) but incredibly hard and thermally conductive ceramic that sees use as crucibles, cutting tools, impact-resistant armor, and wear-resistant coatings. Crystal structures of this boride of Titanium are Hexagonal, in the P6/mmm space group. High hardness, moderate strength, and good wear resistance make titanium diboride a candidate for use in seals, wear parts, and, in composites with other materials and cutting tools. In combination with other primarily oxide ceramics, TiB2 is used to constitute composite materials in which the presence of the material serves to increase strength and fracture toughness of the matrix.
