Titanium Dioxide (TiO2)

This oxide of Titanium occurs naturally and appears as white solid or powder. Over 11 different morphologies exist, including 5 that occur specifically under high pressure. It has a refractive index between 2.48 & 2.60, and thus has found use in optical coatings, and also as a photocatalyst that separates water into water and hydrogen. Thin films of TiO2 have been shown to exhibit Superhydrophilicity, which leads to its use as an anti-fog coating.
