Vanadium (V) Sputtering Targets
Vanadium (V)
Vanadium (V) is atomic number 23 and appears as a silver/grey metal. As a free element quickly form a passivation layer that protects the metal from further oxidation. Nearly 85% of all vanadium is used to create ferrovanadium which is used as a universal hardener. When mixed with titanium, it can be used in jet engines, and other aerospace & defense applications. Some compounds of Vanadium have also been found to be superconductive, such as V3Si.
