This material is of the II_VI semiconductor group and is a wide-bandgap semiconductor. Many materials have been added or doped to this material to customize its properties. It sees wide use in transparent electrodes in LCD Television Screens, and as thin-film transistors in LEDs. It has a Wurtzite crystal structure (C6v4-P63mc) with a direct bandgap of ~3.3 eV at room temperature.
