This carbide of zirconium is an incredibly hard refractory ceramic material that typically has the appearance of a grey or metallic powder. It has a cubic crystal structure and is highly resistant to corrosion. This material has a thermal conductivity of 20.5w/Mk, and an electric conductivity of ~43 μΩ·cm. This material serves as a coating on nuclear reactors due to the low neutron absorption of the material, as well as uses as abrasives, claddings, filaments, and cutting tools.
